I can’t remember when Part I was, but I do know that it was just a few years back and so forgive me if I’m a bit bitter. I’m tired of the phone calls, door knocking and unsightly signs. And I’m beyond tired of the smear campaigns and the finger pointing and foot stomping. Rather, I’m OUTRAGED! I know 3 year olds who behave with more dignity and diplomacy than the “BIG 3”  who insist upon their “I’m better because he’s worse” campaigns!” What a waste of breath, not to mention time and money. GROW UP already!

At any rate, I’ve been out the door and voted already this a.m. I apologize for the mini rant, but I do want to remind you that it is your DUTY to vote. If you can, take your children with you when you do. Show them by POSITIVE example how to be a responsible and democratic citizen so that they can learn to be one too.

When you get back, we can sit down and discuss you’d do if you were PM. The first thing I’d do is stop this campaigning nonsense. If someone wanted to be Prime Minister, well then they’d have better done a stellar job while holding their seat in Parliament and gotten some attention the good, old-fashioned way, because the signs and phone calls and smear campaigns would be gone!

Derek

For whatever reason, I am hooked on medical dramas. I think it all began with the 70’s television program, “Quincy, M.E.” I loved that show and looked forward to it almost as much as I did “The Disney Hour” every Sunday at 6 p.m.

From Quincy, my television world expanded to E.R. — oh, I was sad with the end of that series! — and then I followed the CSI train for awhile, but eventually hopped off that wreck when I couldn’t stand that they were always examining crime scenes in the dark with only their flashlights. I mean, come on! These are crackerjack crime busters?

Meredith

I don’t think so!

Anyway, after I ditched CSI, I discovered the world of Seattle Grace Hospital (aka Grey’s Anatomy). The season premiere is September 23rd which is great news, because I’ve been rerunning Frasier to death, not to mention Criminal Minds (season premiere – September 22nd).

To get back into the scene at Seattle Grace is going to be a real treat, but I do admit that it’s really a soap opera. However, it definitely has more substance than the daytime soaps that I watched with my mom when I was a kid pretending to be sick and home from school.

In the Distance

At any rate, Grey’s Anatomy is having a contest in which one can help choose the season poster for the upcoming year. Officially, you can vote on Facebook, but feel free to let me know which one you like in the comments.

I tried to do a poll, but couldn’t make it happen and I’m too busy to fool around with that kind of stuff right now. I’ll poll you on something else later.

The pictures are a little small, but if you click on them they enlarge in their own window.

I personally like the one of Derek up at the top the best. My second choice is “Shattered.”

And please, tell me what your guilty pleasure is too…I’d like to think that I’m not alone. 🙂

Sunrise

Sunrise

As each day comes to us refreshed and anew, so does my gratitude renew itself daily. The breaking of the sun over the horizon is my grateful heart dawning upon a blessed world.

~Adabella Radici

I have so many things to be thankful for…

  • a family I cherish, adore and love beyond measure
  • friends to share the ups and downs and especially the sideways
  • a creative mind, a capable body and endless opportunities
  • a fulfilling life which encompasses the right/responsibility to vote in tomorrow’s election (just in case you missed my subtlety in the title…VOTE, damn it! Even if you’re not yet registered, you can do it at the polls!)

Now I know that many of you will be thankful for many of the same things I am…great minds think alike and all that, but tell me something you are grateful for that isn’t such a big thing in the grand scheme of life. Something that is simple, but still makes things great…

Mine would be the Thanskgiving turkey card I received this morning from my eldest. Basically it’s a tracing of her hand, the fingers being the feathers of the turkey once you rotate it and on each finger you write what you are thankful for. She wrote…freedom, peace, allowance, life and family. It warmed my heart.
