Welcome Back Winter!

I knew it, I just knew it. I went and brought out the girls’ rubber boots and look what happened:
Warnings: Yellowknife Region: 3:32 PM MDT Wednesday 16 April 2008
Winter storm warning for Yellowknife Region upgraded from winter storm watch.
Heavy snow and blowing snow are forecast for Thursday.
This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.
An intense pacific low pressure system will move into the Great Slave area Thursday. Heavy snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres are expected with this system. Current indications show that the heaviest snow will fall to the south of Great Slave lake. In addition to the heavy snow strong northerly winds will develop behind the low with peak winds reaching 50 to 80 km/h. These strong winds combined with the fresh snow may produce blizzard conditions near Great Slave lake. Snowfall amounts in Yellowknife are expected to be near 10 centimetres with possible blowing snow developing late Thursday.
Wouldn’t you know it, BH is weathered in way up north too and won’t be home until this system moves on. ![]()

I totally feel your pain. We got 18-24 inches (sorry, my metric conversion ability bites) dumped on us last Thursday night just as I was enjoying the sight of the gravel in my driveway. Spent 7+ hours Friday shoveling, and another few hours Saturday shoveling more to make room for DH’s boat that we needed to bring back up to the house because the harbor was frozen. Then it snowed and rained a bit more. Early this week, it looked like spring was on it’s way back again, but nooooooo. Woke up this morning to another 3-4 inches.
I am so sick of winter, it isn’t even funny.
Hope you don’t get hit too hard, and that BH gets home soon.
I lost you for a while. Must update my links!!!
Ugh on the storm!!!
Oh NO! We’ve had a lot of rain, but no snow, thank goodness. Hope it melts VERY soon!
Well, it didn’t turn out to be much of a snowstorm on our end. We did get the winds though. This morning there is a windchill of -26C.
I have to laugh. It seems like NWT has a spring typical to those in Alberta. Put away the winter stuff. Bring out the spring stuff. Bring out some summer things, as well. Now bring out the winter stuff again. You just never know what you’re going to get!
Cathy, oh you poor woman. I feel so badly for you. And I know that snow isn’t the fluffy kind, but the heavy sodden stuff that weighs a ton. (((HUGS)))
BH isn’t home yet, but hopefully he’s caught the Dash 8 out this morning. I guess I’ll know by tonight if I get the phone call, “Honey, come get me!”
So you’re the one who sent the snow lol Its like Christmas out here right now. We’ve still got the hallmark animated snowmen out on the bookshelf so I’ve been putting on the ‘let it snow’ guy every time I go upstairs :o) Apparently we’re getting snow till at least Tuesday though *sigh* And here i thought I’d be able to plant my pots soon.
I found you — followed the breadcrumbs
Goodness — where did that mug shot come from? LOL.
